Harris Corp. reported on December 22 that it has been awarded a four-year, $19 million contract by Florida's AHCA to implement a statewide HIE infrastructure that will improve the delivery and coordination of health care.

Harris Corp., an international communications and information technology company, reported on December 22 that it has been awarded a four-year, $19 million contract by Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) to implement a statewide health information exchange ( HIE ) infrastructure that will improve the delivery and coordination of health care.

The Harris solution will connect health entities across Florida including physicians, hospitals, regional health information exchanges, and state government agencies and provide timely, secure, and authorized exchange of patient health information. By leveraging Harris' open, standards-based solution, the state can efficiently adapt to health policies and technologies, minimize the total cost of ownership, and build on existing regional investments for a connected Florida HIE .
