Health Information Technology Showcase Media Advisory is now in its 17th year !
Health Information Technology Showcase and NHIN CONNECT Presentation, on behalf of the Capitol Hill “Steering Committee on Telehealth and Healthcare Informatics ,” is now in its 17th year which will be guided by the honorary Co-Chairs - Senators Kent Conrad (D-ND), John Thune (R-SD), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Mike Crapo (R-ID). The representatives are Allyson Schwartz (D-PA), David Wu (D-OR), Bart Gordon (D-TN), Rick Boucher (D-VA) and Eric Cantor (R-VA)
In conjunction with the House, 21st Century Health Care Caucus Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) and Tim Murphy (R-PA), Co-Chairs in room 325 Russell Senate Office Building, Delaware and Constitution N.E. (The Kennedy Caucus Room).
The Agenda of the meeting follows as below:
Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 10 a.m. - Live demonstrations
By afternoon - Presentations by Members of Congress at noon, including Senators Conrad and Whitehouse and Representatives, Murphy, Kennedy, Schwartz and Wu
12:30 p.m. – Six federal agencies including Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Social Security Administration, Veterans Health Administration, DoD Military Health System, and Army Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) will present several National Health Information network scenarios on improving wounded warrior disability claims administration and addressing H1N1 Swine Flu using improved biosurveillence.
Throughout the day, Members of Congress and their staff, federal agency officials, trade association representatives and the public will visit more than 30 interactive tabletop displays.
On the Institute for e-Health Policy- The Institute for e-Health Policy was launched to provide research and educational opportunities for public- and private-sector stakeholders two key constituents who will make and are most directly impacted by e-health policy decisions. The Institute is part of the HIMSS Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization with charitable, scientific and educational goals.
