Meta Unveils Enhanced Clinical Documentation System
| Healthcare IT News - Healthcare Informatics |

Meta Healthcare IT Solutions , a supplier of comprehensive core clinical information systems for the healthcare industry, announced today the newest addition to its electronic clinical documentation tools, MetaCare IntelliDocs.
The MetaCare IntelliDocs solution serves to expedite the documentation process by correcting problems of legibility, accuracy and avoidance of redundant data entry through powerful tools that look and feel like the paper forms they’re replacing. Used as a stand-alone or integrated with other Meta clinical information products, MetaCare IntelliDocs converts familiar paper forms and documents into an electronic medium. These forms are then user-defined and modified to meet specific user requirements.
Using a report generator, MetaCare IntelliDocs also provides form fields which are auto-populated with the most recently saved value when a key field is entered. Then, when a patient is re-admitted, that patient's demographics and allergies are filled in from his or her previous admission. For clinicians who document frequently used assessment forms, this means not having to input repetitive or misread data by hand, saving valuable time and resources of medical and nursing staff when assessing a significant volume of patients. In fact, nationally conducted research has shown that physicians who use EHR s experience higher satisfaction of use as well as positive outcomes in the improvement of patient care (New England Journal of Medicine, 2008).
“The goal of IntelliDocs is to increase patient safety, consumer privacy and end-user satisfaction,” explained Sal Barcia, CEO of Meta. “It enables interdisciplinary health professionals, not only physicians or nurses, to have access to necessary forms with a click of a button. By pulling existing data from an encrypted database into desired fields of the same template, IntelliDocs decreases the chance of entry errors and ends duplicate manual data entry. Easy and accurate documentation translates into a decreased workload. This allows clinicians more time at the bedside to provide a higher level of quality of patient care that is not only time efficient and safe but, most importantly, cost-effective.”
