PEPID Now Supports ICD-10 Coding

Healthcare IT News - Healthcare Informatics

PEPID, developer of clinical decision-support information and technology, announced its support of ICD-10 coding within the PEPID Knowledge Base.

PEPID, the leading developer of clinical decision-support information and technology, announced its support of ICD-10 coding within the PEPID Knowledge Base. This support will ensure a smooth transition for EMR and HIT systems looking to become ICD-10 compatible.

“The transition to ICD-10 coding is a huge undertaking for healthcare systems and organizations.” says John Wagner, PEPID President. “We are thrilled to add ICD-10 to our list of supported code sets, as our simple integration tools will greatly ease transition issues and reduce costs for EMR and HIT systems looking to move to ICD-10.”

EMR Systems or any other healthcare information system can use PEPID’s leading drug data on the road to ICD-10 compliancy. The PEPID drug database supports and cross references nomenclatures and coding systems — including ICD-9, SNOMED, National Drug Code, First DataBank, Gold Standard and now ICD-10 — allowing systems to use their current naming convention, and return the drug data and alerts needed.

“Our support of the ICD-10 code set allows HIT system developers to use our APIs to programmatically receive drug information without needing to switch nomenclature sub-systems,” says Edward Reynolds, PEPID’s Chief Technology Officer.

National quality measurement initiatives mandate healthcare organizations be compatible with ICD-10 by October 1st, 2013.

PEPID contains the most extensive drug database on the market today, along with thousands of disease profiles and medical conditions, medical and dosing calculators, a drug interactions checker, illustrations, laboratory values and a differential diagnosis generator. All PEPID’s clinical decision support data and tools can be integrated into any healthcare information system, EMR, EHR or EDIS to help meet requirements for meaningful use.
