Four medical technology financings over the past week totalling over $180 million have driven the month's current total to almost $250 million dollars.  When most medtech financings have been in the $5-$10 million range, these four stick out as clear exceptions:

• TriVascular, Inc.  — $60 million — technology for repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms
• Theranos Inc. — $45 million — medical devices that monitor drug reactions
• Ventus Medical, Inc. — $40 million — medical device technology for treatment of sleep disordered breathing
• DFIne, Inc. — $36.2 million — minimally invasive treatments of vertebral compression fractures
