Fight to the Death

Healthcare Blogs - Healthcare Reflections Blogs

Someone allowed John Williams, a 70 year-old from Canada, to have a mixed martial arts fight against a 49 year-old man recently. And he won! I was blown away by this until I read the article. To their credit, the commission made him take blood tests, put him on a heart monitor, and made him work on a treadmill but could not find a way to stop the show from going on. The best part was how Williams found the opponent himself when he got into an argument with the dude over car payments. They agreed to settle it in the cage. The rest is history and a pretty cool story. My favorite line from Williams goes as follows:

"The point of life is living it. And I tell you, I got in that cage and I felt alive. I felt human again. You get that thing over your head, people think you're 70 and you don't know [expletive]."

Here was the best part. When I read the story, the attached internet ad (which may not show for you) was a promotion for the movie....wait for it....The Expendables. How perfect.
