There is a big investigation going on in Canada. Evidence is coming forward showing that patients in Montreal routinely bribe doctors in "exchange for speedy services". Sounds like a great system to me. The article in the Vancouver Sun claims that:

Hush-hush payments run from $5,000 to $7,000 to jump the wait list into the operating room, and between $2,000 to $10,000 to guarantee an obstetrician's presence at a delivery.

Wow. Even more unbelievable is the fact that this is not illegal! It's just unethical according to the Canucks. You think so? Correct me if I am wrong but isn't bribing a doc to "jump the queue" for medical care a way of destroying their whole socialized medicine thing? Of course, patients could always come to America for their MRIs and surgeries if the bribe method fails - something they have done for decades.
