The lack of unity between physicians is explained quite simply. The differences between different locations and specialties are so great that it is usually difficult to see what other doctors are going through. These problems are quite marked and because there are so many specialties, unity becomes an elusive quality. The orthopedic surgeons have different problems than the gastroenterologists, the pulmonologist than the internist, and so on. Some specialties riding high on some waves are not anxious to see changes that could affect them financially in an adverse manner. Maybe its time we try to find a little direction that could help all physicians? We have certainly been divided as well as subjugated by a variety of means, many of which are very destructive. Maybe unity is what we really need?
