Impac Software Hosts Medical Oncology EMR Summit

Company News - Impac Medical Systems, Inc.

Impac Software Hosts Medical Oncology Electronic Medical Record Summit in Amelia Island, Florida

Attracting more than 220 attendees, Impac Software’s 8th Medical Oncology Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Summit took place February 4-6 at The Ritz-Carlton in Amelia Island, Florida.

An interactive forum for customers, clinical experts and Impac Software personnel, participants were presented with information on how to personalize their EMR to provide better, more efficient patient care within their medical oncology practice.

The keynote address, delivered by Joe Jachinowski, President and CEO of Elekta North America, spoke to new and future developments from Impac Software, as well as to the Group’s vision of the future – to consistently deliver high levels of care to all patients. Other speakers for the General Session included: Terry Oakes, VP of Medical Oncology and STRATEGIQ Services; Mike Bozek, Director, Medical Oncology Client Services; Faye-Ann MacDonald, Senior Product Manager, Medical Oncology and Edmund Reiter, STRATEGIQ Services Specialist.

Additional general session presentations highlighting the latest features within MOSAIQ®, Impac Software’s image-enabled oncology information system, and how practice workflow is improved through its use came next, followed by smaller, less-formal panel discussions and breakout sessions featuring Impac Software’s customers and education staff.

“This was one of the best meetings,” says Michele White, Operations Manager at Hinsdale Hematology Oncology, Hinsdale, Illinois. “Although we’ve been clinical for more than eight years, it’s always beneficial for me to understand what my peers are doing to improve cancer care and see how and if I can apply these tactics to my practice.”

“We began using Impac Software in early 2006, and have used it as the jumping-off point for standardizing everything we do in the office,” says Sylvia Anspach, Advance Practice Nurse at Iowa Blood and Cancer Care Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. “Our mission is to bring hope to life, and as our patient volume increases, it feels good to know that we’ll be able to manage growth with ease – never losing focus on what’s best for our patients.”

Another meeting highlight was the Thursday evening cocktail networking reception, which featured the signature drinks: “EMR”tini and “M.O.”jito along with the music from a local jazz combo.
