University of Michigan MD awarded 2007 ARRS scholarship

An assistant professor in the division of cardiothoracic radiology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, has been named the 2007 ARRS Scholar.
Dr. Attili’s interest is in Cardiovascular MR (CMR) imaging. He plans to use the scholarship to enhance his skills and undergo advanced training in CMR at the German Heart Institute Berlin and the Guys and St Thomas’s Hospital in London with the aim of eventually directing a CMR laboratory and an academic CMR program at the University of Michigan. He will also participate in daily CMR clinical imaging in addition to undertaking focused clinical CMR research.
“The support of the ARRS scholarship will greatly aid my transition to a dedicated cardiovascular MR imager and prepare me for a position of leadership in academic radiology,” said Dr. Attili. “It will enable me to attain my professional career goals with significant impact on the quality of education, research, and clinical care,” he said.
Dr. Attili received his MBBS degree from the University of Health Sciences in India, and completed his residency at the West Midlands Radiology Diagnostic Radiology Training Program in Birmingham, England.
Dr. Attili has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications which have been published in the American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR).
The American Roentgen Ray Society Scholarship is intended to support study in a field selected by the scholar that will enable the scholar to attain his or her professional career goal and prepare them for positions of leadership in academic radiology. It is funded by a grant from The Roentgen Fund.
