Radiation oncology firm Nucletron has announced the US FDA clearance of Oncentra®Brachy, the company’s new volume-based treatment planning solution to optimize cancer treatment planning with brachytherapy.
“We are pleased to receive clearance by the FDA for Oncentra®Brachy,” said Jeroen Cammeraat, chief operating officer of Nucletron. “With this new treatment planning solution, Nucletron has set a benchmark in technological achievement, and has opened the door to new treatment techniques in brachytherapy planning not available before.”
Oncentra®Brachy, the world’s first fully DICOM-compatible treatment planning system, features optimization algorithms to shorten time spent planning. The new solution provides 3D contouring and margining tools to identify Regions of Interests (ROIs) on CT or in multimodality imaging environments using image registration for CT, MR and PET data.
“Radiation therapy professionals will have an opportunity to experience Oncentra®Brachy hands-on as a component of Nucletron’s multi-modality suite of treatment planning solutions at the 2008 AAPM Annual Meeting in Houston in July,” said Bill Dowd, vice president of North America. “We invite attendees interested in learning more about Oncentra®Brachy to stop by Nucletron’s booth (#600), and also consider participating in our ‘Lunch and Learn’ educational sessions as well as one of our celebration events.”
