Department of Defense Awards InSite One Their Theatre Image Repository Project Supporting 1,000,000 Studies

InSite One announced that the company was awarded the Theatre Image Repository (TIR) project from the Integrated Clinical Systems Program Management Office (ICSPMO) of the Department of Defense. InSite One will provide a centralized, long-term medical image archiving solution for medical imaging collected in theatres of deployment around the world and is expected to support 1,000,000 studies. The project will be supported through a partnership with National Interest Security Company, (NISC) announced at the 2009 Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference in Chicago .

InSite One is fulfilling the need for a central, consolidated image repository of medical images collected and acquired in deployed areas by utilizing a vendor-neutral, standards-based InDex High Availability archiving solution. This solution will allow care givers to review patient image history for continuing treatment of injuries sustained in theatre as well as provide access to U.S.-based military medical facilities once the patient returns to the for future evaluation and treatment. This archive is expected to support 1,000,000 studies during this pilot program, consisting primarily of CT, CR and MR image types and will be based at the European Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, . It will provide image access to Army medical installations across the Department of Defense (DoD) network. With the Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) certification completed by NISC as part of this program, InDex will become certified to reside on the DoD network and thus eligible to participate in the pending request for replacing the existing PACS infrastructure in DoD health facilities and regional archives. Prior to this decision the system was utilizing transported CDs with image sets.

“NISC is proud to expand upon our rich history of providing health document imaging services to the DoD with InSite One’s solution which provides data consolidation at a single source for accessing imaging and reports data. This will allow immediate access to critical patient information at the point of care throughout the DoD delivery network sustaining positive patient outcomes.” comments Steve Eberly, Vice President of Health Services for NISC.

“ InSite One is proud  to deliver a unique consolidated solution that will provide  ensured, secure ease of access  to diagnostic information for  the  military’s global medical installations and the care of their patients – our military men and women,” comments Jim Champagne, President and CEO of InSite One, Inc. “This will be InSite One’s first services deployment  outside of the United States and is an indication that our managed service capabilities are without boundaries,” Mr. Champagne concluded.
