KLAS Report Examines EMR Practice Market by Specialty

Company News - KLAS

KLAS: a first-of-its-kind report examining ambulatory EMR performance by physician specialty, providers are invited to download a complimentary copy of the KLAS " Ambulatory EMR .

"Different practice specialties have different functional needs and create unique challenges for EMR vendors. The timelines and financial incentives involved with meeting meaningful use requirements make it more important than ever for providers to have access to good data to aid in vendor selection," said Mpark Wagner, Director of Ambulatory Research at KLAS . "This report gives providers another resource to help them make sense of vendor assurances and product demonstrations."

Work on this EMR report began shortly after the annual HIMSS conference in Atlanta. The "Ambulatory EMR - by Specialty" report is organized into three key areas: 1) Vendor performance by individual specialty, 2) performance by grouped specialties (primary care, advanced care, & multi-specialty) and 3) vendor performance summaries. The data is presented in an easy-to-read scorecard format where each provider rated product within a specialty has been given a letter grade. These letter grades reflect the products' KLAS performance scores, which are based on direct client feedback and are composed of 25 different performance indicators.

"The report does not cover every vendor or specialty, but it's a good starting point in meeting the needs of the providers. The letter grades are a direct reflection of current vendor performance and the grading scale makes it easy to see how the vendors perform in a variety of specialties. Ideally, these grades open doors for meaningful provider discussions with vendors," added Wagner.
