ASTRO, the radiological oncology conference was bigger this year than in the past. look for my discussions in radiology, radiology technician, mammography, PET, MRI and other groups on ASTRO. i spoke to a group of RN consultants who were out of work. RNs out of work? heh? we're like 800,000 short of nurses, how can this be? hospitals are cutting staff for fear of heatlhcare reform, medicare reimbursement cuts, etc. saw the same at ASHP (pharmacist meeting). pharm Ds are getting cut from hospital pharmacies, another huh? what the? pharmacists reduce medical errors, save cuts, and increase revenue, why then? c-suite hosp admins are telling directors to cut, and instead of themselves, they cut staff. crazy. vendors are telling me again, same as last several meetings they have budget freezes, not seeing customer activity, so when does the freeze thaw?
