Median Technologies receives 510(k) clearance for LMS-Lung/Track

Company News - MEDIAN Technologies

Median Technologies has received 510(k) pre-market clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration for LMS-Lung/Track, its clinical application for the evaluation and follow-up of lesions identified in chest CT images.

LMS-Lung/Track is part of Median LMS – Lesion Management Solutions – a comprehensive portfolio of applications providing automatic tools to support image visualization, lesion detection and quantification, temporal evolution assessment and automatic reporting in lung, colon and liver CT scans.

LMS-Lung/Track is a software application for the evaluation of chest CT images. Radiologists using LMS-Lung/Track can segment pulmonary lesions and automatically obtain key characteristics such as volume or longest axial diameter. The application greatly facilitates the temporal comparison of two examinations of a same patient by synchronizing the images between two scans, performing an automatic pairing of the lesions and calculating their growth and doubling time. In addition, LMS-Lung/Track automatically generates reports according to RECIST criteria used to assess response to treatment.

“For radiologists, quantifying and following lung lesions over time is a very tedious task which is also subject to an important intra and inter-observer variability”, says Michaël Auffret, VP Product Management of Median Technologies. “LMS-Lung/Track answers those difficulties by providing 3D segmentation for accurate and reproducible nodule evaluation, and automatic lesion pairing in successive scans for quick and easy follow-up.”

Like every LMS application, LMS-Lung/Track is available from standalone workstations, PACS workstations or any appropriate PC on the network in multi-user environments. “LMS-Lung/Track has been designed to be seamlessly integrated into the clinical workflow and support radiologists in their daily efforts to improve their productivity” said Fredrik Brag, CEO of Median Technologies. “The integration of LMS-Lung/Track with PACS workstations guarantees access to previous exams, brings additional clinical functionalities straight to the radiologist’s desktop anywhere in the facility and improves the communication with referring physicians”.
