MEDIAN Technologies: interview with VP Product Management Michaël Auffret
| Company News - MEDIAN Technologies |
MEDIAN technologies showcasing its complete portfolio of Lesion Management Solutions
Q: What products, updates or innovations are you announcing or launching at RSNA?
MEDIAN Technologies will highlight its leading position in diagnostic oncology imaging at RSNA, hall C, booth #8548. We will showcase our complete portfolio of Lesion Management Solutions, with special emphasis on recently FDA approved LMS-Lung/Track and LMS-Liver, two applications dedicated to the evaluation and follow-up of cancerous or other potentially malignant lesions identified in chest and liver CT images. We will also demonstrate our unique PACS/RIS integration capabilities. Bringing advanced clinical applications right to the clinicians' desktops instead of having them move to dedicated workstations is a major breakthrough. Such integration guarantees access to the patients' previous exams necessary to perform follow-up studies and allows an immediate sending of reports to oncologists and other referring physicians.
Q: What are the benefits of using your product?
LMS-Lung/Track and LMS-Liver are designed to efficiently assist radiologists in all steps, from lesion measurement and follow-up to report generation. These applications segment user-identified lesions and measure their key characteristics such as volume and longest axial diameters. They also pair the lesions in follow-up exams, compute their growth and doubling time and generate reports according to the RECIST criteria used in oncology for treatment response assessment. LMS-Lung/Track and LMS-Liver thus perform automatically all the tedious tasks radiologists would normally carry out manually. This contributes to improving the workflow and reducing intra and inter-observer variability.
Q: What are you hoping to achieve from this year's RSNA?
MEDIAN Technologies is hoping to be recognized as the new leader in diagnostic imaging oncology with the best commercially available offering. LMS-Lung/Track and LMS-Liver are in this segment, and so will be future LMS applications we are working on. Our goal is to provide the most comprehensive offer to evaluate and follow-up lesions in CT scans covering neck to pelvis. This is a major shift compared to the previous years which were more focused on Computer Aided Detection technology.
Q: What key messages do you have for RSNA attendees?
"We work for you". MEDIAN Technologies is a specialized company focusing on delivering high-end solutions for all radiologists to accurately evaluate and follow-up lesions and give oncologists and other referring physicians the exact information they need in a record time. We automate tedious tasks and improve the workflow by making our advanced applications easily accessible from existing PACS/RIS workstations. In brief, we work for the clinicians, so that they can deliver the best possible patient care.
Q: How do you see the year ahead in clinical and business terms?
2008 should be a very exciting year. We already have two FDA approved products, we have recently increased our American sales team, and we are on our way to extend our application deployment to the whole US territory next year, like we are presently doing in Europe. The challenge is to successfully position ourselves in the slot of advanced clinical applications for diagnostic oncology imaging and strengthen our leadership, both with sales and by launching other innovative applications in this field.
