MEDSEEK improves workflow, productivity for houston-based healthcare network
MEDSEEK , the leading provider of healthcare enterprise portal connectivity solutions, announced the launch of a new patient experience for The Methodist Hospital System in Houston, Texas.
The Methodist Hospital’s new online patient experience marks the second step in a three-part, Web-based initiative with MEDSEEK. The system’s microsite for the Methodist Institute for Technology, Innovation and Education – known as MITIE – was launched in October 2009. The second part was launched in March 2010 and provides enhanced online consumer functionality such as bill payment, physician search and a web nursery.
Another key component of the engagement – distributed authorship – will improve internal workflow and enhance productivity. “The MEDSEEK ecoSystem provides open access, allowing our authorized owners to manage their own content. By offering our Web visitors more timely and relevant content, we have a greater opportunity to engage and educate our patients and the community we serve,” said Timothy L. Thompson, Senior Vice President and CIO for The Methodist Hospital System.
In developing the healthcare system’s new patient experience, MEDSEEK provided content organization, navigation and site architecture. “Our goal is to create a better overall consumer online experience using MEDSEEK’s expertise with healthcare and academic organizations like ours,” said Beverly Shelton, Director of Web Strategy, Information Technology Department for The Methodist Hospital System. “The MEDSEEK ecoSystem also provides a stable, single platform that gives us the scalability for future initiatives as well as the flexibility to enhance the MEDSEEK solution using our own internal resources.”
“Over the past 14 years, MEDSEEK has identified and categorized more than 400 unique eHealth patterns – or best practices – that allow us to quickly and effectively deploy a 360o patient experience,” said MEDSEEK CEO Peter Kuhn. “That extensive experience, combined with our solutions, allows MEDSEEK to help The Methodist Hospital System enhance its Web presence and improve its overall patient experience.” MEDSEEK’s patterns were recently published in the company’s guide, eHealth Patterns in the 21st Century, Part 1: The ePatient.
