AIS Offers Open MRI at Matamoras

Radiology News

Advanced Imaging Specialists (AIS), the leading provider of outpatient diagnostic imaging services in Pike and Lackawanna counties, now offers open MRI at its Matamoras location (formerly Tri State Open MRI).

Traditional MRI units feature a large, cylinder-shaped tube completely surrounded by a circular magnet. The patient is moved into one end of the tube on a sliding table, which can be an uncomfortable and confining experience for some patients.

But the Philips Panorama Power .23T Open MRI features a wide-open, C-arm design that enables easy, side-first patient entry, accommodating large or claustrophobic patients for a variety of imaging procedures.

“The unique 270-degree-access design makes things much easier for our imaging team and our patients,” said AIS President Joseph Rienzi, M.D. “If a child or elderly patient is undergoing a screening procedure, a family member or support person can easily accompany him or her. The open design also allows easy patient access for our physicians and imaging techs.”

Panorama Power gives doctors and radiologists high-quality vascular, neuro, musculoskeletal and abdominal imaging capabilities such as brain, spine, and pelvic exams.

The Matamoras center, at 111 Hulst Dr. Suite 708, offers open MRI imaging services Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. AIS in partnership with Mercy Health Partners also operates outpatient diagnostic imaging centers in Dunmore, Clarks Green, and Scranton to better serve patients and referring physicians in northeast Pennsylvania.
