LRMC Grants 3-year Accreditation in Digital Mammography
| Radiology News - Mammography |
Leesburg Regional Medical Center, part of Central Florida Health Alliance, has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in digital mammography as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology ( ACR ).
The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment.
"We look at the ACR as the benchmark for quality. They provide us with an independent, expert assessment of our image quality and practice standards," said Steve Smith, director of imaging services for Central Florida Health Alliance. "The ACR certification is the stamp of recognized consistency and excellence in imaging."
Digital mammography is among the many state-of-the-art imaging services offered at the hospital.
"We are very proud of the services we offer," said Margaret Beeching, mammography coordinator. "Our goal is to make sure that every patient feels loved. We provide a very hands-on effort coordinated between the radiologists and mammographers."
Recently, the mammography suite at Leesburg Regional underwent a makeover that resulted in a more comforting and positive experience for patients. Coffee and cookies are offered in the newly refurbished waiting area and patients are provided with spa robes rather than the traditional hospital gown.
