South Nassau Communities Hospital’s Complete Women’s Imaging, PC,  has been designated an American College of Radiology (ACR) Breast Imaging Center of Excellence.

The ACR awards Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation to providers that earn accreditation in its mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program as well as  its voluntary breast imaging accreditation programs and modules.

“At Complete Women’s Imaging, we are committed to using the latest advancements in imaging technology and techniques and make every effort to be sure that we fulfill each patient’s need for individual, compassionate, professional care,” said Abraham Port, MD, medical director and director of breast imaging at Complete Women’s Imaging (CWI).

The ACR awards Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation to providers that earn accreditation in its mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program as well as  its voluntary breast imaging accreditation programs and modules, which includes mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound (including the ultrasound-guided breast biopsy technique).

The Center of Excellence designation acknowledges the provider’s dedication to improving women’s health through its participation in the rigorous quality assurance programs.

Accreditation is based on an evaluation conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment and report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently awards or denies accreditation.

Since its opening in September 2006, thousands of women have chosen Complete Women’s Imaging for the expert care and advanced diagnostic and imaging technologies that are vital to detecting breast cancer and other potentially harmful breast health conditions.

Located at 440 Merrick Road in Oceanside, Complete Women’s Imaging is home to three of Long Island’s premier breast imaging specialists: Dr. Port, Dr. Autz and Michael Golia, MD, staff radiologist.

CWI offers an array of diagnostic and imaging services including screening and diagnostic digital mammography with computer aided detection (CAD); high definition breast and thyroid sonography; MRI of the breast; gynecological sonography (pelvic, transvaginal, obstetrical), including sonohysterograms; stereotactic, ultrasound and MRI-guided breast biopsy; ultrasound guided breast cyst aspiration; ultrasound guided thyroid aspiration; pre-operative sonographic, mammographic and MRI-Guided wire localization of breast lesions; bone density studies (DEXA scans) and breast cancer risk assessment-genetic testing.
