McKesson Partners with Three New Organizations

Company News - McKesson Corp.

McKesson added three HIT partners to streamline access to gold-Standard InterQual criteria

McKesson recently added three health information technology partners to its already substantial list of InterQual Alliance Partners . Pegasystems, Computer Programs and Systems (CPSI) and Acesis join more than 20 other companies that partner with McKesson to bring care management software applications together with automated InterQual reviews to help create a streamlined workflow.

“Our Alliance Partner program is now in its thirteenth year, and we continue to expand and strengthen our partner relationships so healthcare organizations can benefit from more coordinated, more efficient solutions to their healthcare management challenges,” said Tammie Phillips, vice president of InterQual for McKesson Health Solutions.

Health plans now have interactive access to InterQual evidence-based clinical guidelines through the Care Management Framework solution from Pegasystems , a leader in business process management (BPM) software solutions. This integration enables health plans to use industry leading clinical care expertise, cutting-edge BPM technology and automated best-practice healthcare workflow capabilities to deliver enhanced care management services to their member populations. The alliance will enable health plans to improve the efficiency and quality of patient services through a single, integrated portal.

“Care management is critical for improving member health while concurrently reducing the cost of service,” said Elizabeth Hart, senior director of healthcare solutions for Pegasystems. “Through this alliance with McKesson, we are able to meet the entire sum of our customers’ needs – technical as well as clinical. Adding robust integration to McKesson’s clinical content through Pegasystems’ rules-based BPM engine is an important step towards advancing care management to higher levels of personalization, automation and efficiency.”

InterQual content will be newly available to hospitals via software products from CPSI and Acesis. CPSI , a leading provider of information technology to community and critical access hospitals with over 650 clients in 47 states, offers a comprehensive health information and patient care system. Acesis’s dynamic performance improvement software-as-a-service platform is an innovative offering that was showcased in Forrester Research’s annual conference keynote last year.

“Acesis is pleased to provide the opportunity for InterQual clinical criteria to be flexibly streamlined into nearly any quality process,” said Kevin Chesney, CEO for Acesis. “This powerful combination enables better visibility into the quality decision-making process and will ultimately lead to real performance improvement industry wide.”

Over 4,000 healthcare stakeholders, including government agencies, health plans and providers use InterQual Criteria. InterQual content is unmatched in clinical integrity, helping to ensure appropriateness of care and increasing confidence in clinical decision-making. As the most widely used evidence-based clinical criteria, InterQual facilitates alignment between providers and payors in care management decisions.
