McKesson Specialty Care Solutions introduces a fully integrated dispensing solution to prescribe and dispense medications, including oral oncolytics, at the point-of-care.

McKesson Specialty Care Solutions , a division of McKesson Corp., has introduced a fully integrated in-office oral drug dispensing solution that enables oncology and other specialty physicians to prescribe and dispense medications, including oral oncolytics, at the point-of-care.

Oral oncology drugs currently comprise more than 35 percent of the oncology pipeline, and the market is expected to continue to grow. 1 In contrast to traditional chemotherapy regimens which are infused into the patient in the oncology office or clinic, oral oncology drugs are not administered in-office – making patient monitoring and patient adherence more challenging.

McKesson’s integrated oral drug dispensing solution is designed to fit within a practice’s existing workflow to help drive patient adherence to the prescribed therapy. It incorporates a suite of industry-leading McKesson technologies and services including Lynx Mobile to support efficient inventory management; the Pharmaserv pharmacy system for prescription processing, claims adjudication, billing of secondary insurance, and reporting; and AccessHealth , which will contract with pharmacy benefits managers ( PBM s) on the practice’s behalf as well as provide consolidated reimbursement, electronic funds transfer, online claims reports and reconciliation assistance to reduce cash-flow issues.
