Multi-facility provider replaces legacy systems to improve efficiency, enhance care quality

McKesson has signed an agreement with ProHealth Care to replace multiple modality-based software applications with McKesson ’s solutions for enterprise-wide medical imaging. The new picture archiving and communications system ( PACS ) , cardiovascular information system ( CVIS ) , and online case collaboration solution will provide ProHealth Care imaging professionals with the latest technology tools and intelligent workflow capabilities. The solutions will be tightly integrated to ProHealth’s other IT systems, not only providing a complete patient medical record but also improved productivity.

ProHealth Care, a multi-facility system and major provider of health services in Wisconsin, is installing McKesson’s medical imaging solutions at its acute-care and tertiary-care hospitals, and all of its primary and specialty care clinics. The Horizon Medical Imaging PACS and Horizon Cardiology CVIS solutions will improve the workflow and productivity for ProHealth caregivers, saving valuable time by eliminating unnecessary or redundant steps. McKesson’s ability to integrate throughout the entire ProHealth system will give providers enterprise-wide image access. In addition, ProHealth radiologists, cardiologists, and other imaging specialists will use the Horizon Study Share case collaboration tool to organize and share image and reference case information and to connect with their peers throughout ProHealth’s facilities.

Mike Morateck, PACS administrator for the health system, noted that ProHealth looks forward to McKesson’s regional, zone-based support model. “Our systems are mission-critical to our physician and patient community and we cannot afford service disruption,” he said. “We were impressed with McKesson’s proven track record and commitment to providing real-time support from experts who are familiar with us.”
