Radiology Practice Selects McKesson to Help Address Complex Revenue Cycle Management Challenges

Company News - McKesson Corp.

Billing and Practice Management Services to Support Reimbursement and Compliance Goals

The Association of Alexandria Radiologists (AAR), an independent radiology practice with outpatient imaging centers and affiliations with four hospitals in northern Virginia, has chosen McKesson ’s Revenue Management Solutions (RMS) for radiology billing and practice management. Working with McKesson , AAR plans to optimize how it manages the day-to-day operations of its practice in the face of reimbursement and regulatory compliance pressures.

The RMS solution includes market-leading medical billing, reporting and accounts receivable management services. AAR practice leaders cited McKesson ’s resources, industry expertise, reporting capabilities, focus on compliance and long-standing reputation for revenue management excellence as key factors in the decision.

“We wanted a partner to help us manage complex coding and documentation requirements, address compliance regulations and oversee relationships with hospitals and payors,” said Sid Greenwell, AAR’s chief executive officer. “With the impressive array of resources McKesson can apply to our 26-physician practice, we are confident it is the right company to keep us at the top of our game.”

McKesson’s enhanced reporting tools enable the use of real-time data to provide practices with business intelligence, from big-picture snapshots to highly detailed day-to-day operations. “With McKesson, I can run my own reports and gather data down to the granular level,” said Robin Jervis, director of finance, AAR. “This wealth of information is tremendously valuable in helping us clearly identify our strengths and weaknesses and make important business decisions.”

Greenwell noted that McKesson’s investment in understanding and addressing detailed regulatory requirements for radiology practices mirrors the priority that AAR places on compliance. The RMS solutions and physician education services are intended to serve as an extension of AAR’s own compliance initiatives.

“In today’s challenging healthcare environment, physician practices need technologies and resources focused on streamlining operations so that caregivers can focus on outstanding patient care,” said Pat Leonard, senior vice president and general manager, Physician Revenue Management Solutions. “We look forward to partnering with the radiologists at AAR to support their goals to improve practice management and provide the best possible support to their community.”

McKesson ’s RMS group is the nation’s leading provider of medical billing, revenue management and accounts receivable management services with more than 1,000 customers. The group is supported by a team of 4,000 employees dedicated to helping physicians grow revenues, control costs and reduce regulatory risk.
