Dubai Health Authority (DHA) signs MoU with Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians

Medicexchange News - Medicexchange News
DHA-HMFP Memorandum of Understanding follows the agreement signed with Joslin Diabetes Center earlier this month.

The DHA has announced the signing of a second Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). During his recent trip to Boston in the United States, His Excellency Qadhi Al Murooshid, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), signed a second strategic agreement with Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to help ensure the very best clinical and scientific practices and services the DHA provides to the population of Dubai.

This second MoU follows the recent announcement from the Director General's office which will bring the very best diabetes facilities to Dubai with the opening of a Joslin Diabetes Center, Dubai's first dedicated treatment centre for the disease.

DHA and HMFP will explore joint opportunities in education, training, research and outstanding clinical care, in order to provide the best and highest healthcare for the people of Dubai and the region, to a standard equivalent to that present at the HMFP-affiliated hospitals and clinics.

Mr Qadhi Al Murooshid pointed out that: "Education and health are two of the most important issues for any developed society.  The health of all our people contributes to this ongoing success.  A healthy society is a more productive society. We must therefore always look to provide the very best healthcare standards that we can by providing better facilities and by continuously educating our staff to the very best in international standards"

He added: "Dubai's growth, both physically and economically, places increasing demands on our healthcare system.  As the demand for more healthcare provision increases, we must look for strategic partnerships with global centres of excellence to broaden the range of facilities and services available in Dubai.  In time people will have to travel less to get access to these world class facilities."

He concluded: "Our staff will also benefit.  They will be able to learn from our colleagues at Harvard.  The new Dubai Health Authority has been created to promote a strategic approach to healthcare in Dubai. One of our key objectives is that standards should continue to rise. Our agreement with the HMFP will provide access to a broad range of facilities, better healthcare, education and training for all of our facilities which will directly benefit all patients and medical staff."

Mr. Al-Murooshid signed the MOU with HMFP together with Dr Stuart A. Rosenberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians Group, with the presence of Dr. Mark Zeidel, Professor Herrman L. Blumgart the Medical Chair at Harvard Medical School.
