Platinum interview with Intelerad's Executive
| Medicexchange News - Medicexchange News |
First and foremost, we hope to increase Intelerad's brand recognition within the PACS industry. We have been attending RSNA since 2000 and have grown steadily to a company with over 100 employees and 400+ PACS installations worldwide.
Intelerad aims to increase its brand recognition within the PACS industry at RSNA
Q: What products, updates or innovations are you announcing or launching at RSNA?
We are presenting the latest new PACS features and improvements to our image viewing software, InteleViewer. These include some new measurement tools such as freehand ROIs, VOIs and orthogonal measurements. We have also added spine-labeling; real-time cine playback; enhanced multi-monitor layouts combined with roaming user profiles; improved support for DICOM Presentation States; DICOM Structured Reports; easier access to thumbnail images of prior studies and additional speed optimizations.
Other new InteleViewer modules are: embedded PET/CT module with statistics such as SUVs and volume measurements; and new functionality for our Reporting Worklist for radiologists.
We are also launching a new PACS module called Results Reporting. This is an add-on module to IntelePACS, which includes web-based transcription and report verification modules in addition to report delivery capabilities. This new product brings more of the traditionally RIS radiology workflow under our umbrella of products, allowing us to provide a solution that will manage the radiologist workflow and tailor it to the needs of our customers.
Also new is our Series Editor tool, a Web-based QC tool that we have developed to allow authorized users a quick and easy way to modify image datasets and correct acquisition errors such as deletion, separation and combination of images. This is an integrated tool that requires no additional hardware and allows any authorized user to manage these QC tasks using their Web browser. Series Editor will be embedded within the IntelePACS product at no extra cost.
Q: What are the benefits of using your product?
Most importantly: Our PACS works and it works well. And not just in small-scale simple environments. Our PACS is proven to work in complex environments where most other PACS solutions are not designed to work well, such as large-scale multi-site environments linked with low-bandwidth WANs. Our reputation and excellent customer retention record back these claims, as do our good standing within the KLAS Enterprises database.
Also important from the user's perspective, is that our software is easy to use. It is simple, intuitive, yet has the sophisticated tools that radiologists require. At tradeshows, I frequently see radiologists simply take the mouse and keyboard and start using the software without having ever seen it before. And they figure it out almost entirely on their own, in minutes! They love that. Our software is user-friendly, and that does a lot to reduce the anxieties of new users, improving acceptance, and reducing implementation times.
Excellent service and support
A final important consideration is Intelerad's excellent service and support. Our approach stems from our corporate ethics which are based first and foremost on the need to ensure our customers' well-being and peace of mind. We treat every customer's business as 'mission critical', requiring our constant monitoring and readiness to take corrective action.
We literally try to detect problems ahead of time, and to deal with them before they impact a customer's operations and users. This is in stark contrast to traditional support offerings where the vendor stands-by ready to offer service when a customer calls. By then, the problem has already occurred and it's too late. While it's impossible to catch absolutely everything before a customer notices that there is a problem, it's what we try to do. It's a whole different level of support from what others offer, and our customers truly appreciate this and tell us that it helps their businesses run more efficiently.
Q: What are you hoping to achieve from this year's RSNA?
First and foremost, we hope to increase Intelerad's brand recognition within the PACS industry. We have been attending RSNA since 2000 and have grown steadily to a company with over 100 employees and 400+ PACS installations worldwide.
RSNA is also a great venue for meeting potential new customers who come to see our products and to talk to various people in our organization. Our people are terrific. The show gives potential new customers a chance to discover this for themselves and to appreciate that we have a lot more to offer than just PACS.
But RSNA isn't just about making new sales. It is also a great opportunity to catch-up with our customers and for them to get a look at new software and to discuss our roadmap.
From a product development point of view, RSNA also allows us to meet potential new partners and to benchmark ourselves against our competition's.
RSNA is always a very exciting time of year for us and we have every expectation of it being a great success.
Q: What key messages do you have for RSNA attendees?
We are proud of our rankings in the KLAS Enterprises database because it is an objective measure of how our customers think we are doing. According to KLAS, we have been in the top two or three positions for four years straight (in the Ambulatory and Imaging Center PACS market segment). This confirms a very high degree of customer satisfaction.
As well, many of our customers are very well-known and respected in the industry. Our customers include one of the largest corporate radiology groups in the world (I-Med Network) who has hundreds of sites; one of Canada's two largest university health centers; three groups within the NIH; and a number of very well-known radiology groups across the United States, many of whom were early-adopters of PACS and chose to switch from their previous vendors to Intelerad. The fact that they have chosen Intelerad says a lot. And our ability to satisfy such a diverse range of customers who themselves are very discerning is something that gives us great pride and satisfaction.
Q: How do you see the year ahead in clinical and business terms?
We are seeing more and more PACS replacement opportunities arising, and we are seeing more large-scale multi-site businesses acquiring PACS. Teleradiology businesses also seem to be sprouting, and traditional radiology practices are getting into that business too. People have a much better understanding of what PACS can do for them and they are finding ways to leverage it more than ever before.
The challenge is to keep up with the demand for new product and feature development. We have seen it evolve from a focus on specific features (usually related to image viewing tools), to the need to support and integrate with specialty areas like cardiology, nuclear medicine and mammography.
There is much greater emphasis being placed on improving workflow and overall efficiencies, further blurring the lines between PACS and RIS, but also presenting challenges in addressing the needs of hybrid businesses that combine traditional radiology services with teleradiology. It all remains very exciting and fast-paced.
Company profile
Intelerad redefines the way commercial vendors work with healthcare providers. Our approach to PACS and business is unique: having grown from within multi-site healthcare centers, we understand the issues confronting radiologists, administrators, and clinicians in a digital environment. Our growth and success are the results of our dedication to meeting healthcare technology needs: integration, flexibility, reliability, and value. We create innovative solutions that make sense from a workflow perspective, and we provide a proactive support model that is unequalled in our industry.
