Medicity Will Perform Interoperability Testing in Multiple Categories Aligned With Meaningful Use
Medicity -- the standard for health information exchange ( HIE ) solutions nationwide --announced its participation in the IHE North America Connectathon 2011 this week at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago.
The Connectathon brings healthcare IT system developers together to promote compliance with standards, connectivity and interoperability. Leveraging its HIE technology infrastructure, Medicity will demonstrate interoperability in several categories, including provider directories, cross-gateway patient identity management, cross-gateway patient demographics query and document retrieval, notification of document availability, audit record repository and node authentication.
The event is an important part of the IHE standards development process as it engages early adopters of standards, like Medicity, to validate candidate standards against real-world implementation requirements so that final standards reflect actual industry needs.
"We are excited to participate in the IHE North America Connectathon and look forward to engaging with other developers in this large-scale interoperability event," said Ashish Shah, Medicity senior vice president and chief architect. "Our participation in the Connectathon reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting interoperability and innovation and to delivering actionable information to clinicians to improve patient care and health outcomes."
Connectathon participants that are successful in testing interoperability are able to take part in the HIMSS 2011 Interoperability Showcase.
