Hospital to Support Adoption of Health Information Technology Among Physicians, Enabling Providers to Achieve Meaningful Use

Medicity -- the standard for health information exchange ( HIE ) solutions nationwide -- announced that Overlake Hospital Medical Center will implement the full Medicity suite, including MediTrust Cloud Services, ProAccess Community and the Novo Grid, to enable the exchange of health information across its community, with the broader goals of collaborating with other hospitals and the State HIE as soon as it is operational. Overlake Hospital Medical Center is a 337-bed, nonprofit regional medical center serving the Puget Sound region.

"A key initiative for Overlake is to facilitate adoption of electronic health records ( EHR s) and support physicians' independence in selecting the EHR that best fits their practice needs, therefore a tool like Medicity that connects with a variety of EHR s makes great sense for us," explained Jody Albright, Chief Information Officer of Overlake Hospital Medical Center. " Medicity 's Novo Grid will enable us to connect our hospital systems to any EHR and also make clinical information available via the Web for paper-based practices."

In its first phase Overlake will deploy the Novo Grid, automating core healthcare transactions including scheduled orders and lab orders, referrals, results and report distribution, and is planning to integrate numerous disparate community EHR s. In the next phase it will roll out ProAccess Community and MediTrust Cloud Services for aggregating, matching data and record locator service. Overlake also plans to collaborate with other hospitals and providers as well as its statewide HIE to improve overall care quality, patient safety and healthcare efficiency.
