Solution for rapid, remote diagnosis of stroke now delivers video clips along with patient data, images to a clinician’s desktop.

Medweb announced  new video conferencing and video clip capabilities for TeleStroke, a secure Web-based medical imaging and information management solution that provides comprehensive tools for collecting and evaluating radiology images, lab results, patient history and NIH stroke scale results for the remote diagnosis of acute stroke.  Neuroradiologists and neurologists can use these tools to remotely consult on patient cases and share intrasurgical video clips or any 4D medical/radiology images.  TeleStroke is being demonstrated in the Medweb booth, 5423, at that annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America ( RSNA-2010 ), November 28 to December 2, 2010.

The new video conferencing tools allow for fast, seamless delivery of video clips along with images from a remote PACS. Clinicians can also use the tools for sharing teaching files.

For successful treatment of stroke, such as administering the clot-busting drup tPA, speed to diagnosis is critical. We designed TeleStroke to ensure all relevant data is collected and evaluated, including video or other motion-based (4D) medical imaging , and expedited to the neurologist for rapid stroke diagnosis.”

Basic patient demographics, vitals, and radiology are collected at the point of care and delivered securely for evaluation by stroke neurologists. Powerful reporting tools enable customized management plan creation based on diagnosis, including thrombolytic therapy and non-stroke cases.
