Kyron Clinical Imaging has announced an agreement with Varian Medical Systems that will make Kyron's advanced multimodality and multiparameter imaging studies compatible with Varian's Eclipse. Kyron Clinical Imaging, developers of breakthrough brain imaging software that helps physicians better plan and treat brain tumors and other neurological diseases, has announced an agreement with Varian Medical Systems that will make Kyron's advanced multimodality and multiparameter imaging studies compatible with Varian's Eclipse treatment planning system.

Eclipse will be capable of displaying image volumes that Kyron's Prism software registers into decks for clinical interpretation.

"We are pleased to work with Varian to deliver this advanced treatment planning tool to clinicians using Varian's Eclipse system," said Paul Schmelzer, Kyron's Chief Executive Officer. "This allows clinicians who employ the Eclipse system to base their treatment planning on additional functional and physiological information about the patient.”

"We are pleased to offer the Kyron software to the radiation therapy community," said Jeff Amacker, Director, Treatment Planning Systems at Varian. "Together with Eclipse, the system enables clinicians to see and assess the tumor and surrounding tissue, and to plan treatments designed to spare neurological function."

The decks, which include anatomical, functional and physiological images, are developed by Kyron's Prism software and can be exported, displayed and utilized with Varian's Eclipse. This provides clinicians using Varian's Eclipse with advanced information about the functional areas of the brain to avoid when treating patients so deficiencies can be prevented.
