Neurostar announces more than 100 new installations in 2007

More than 100 sites have selected Neurostar's advanced Virtual Radiology Network (VRN) for the management and archiving of medical images during the first six months of 2007. More than 100 sites have selected Neurostar's advanced Virtual Radiology Network (VRN) for the management and archiving of medical images during the first six months of 2007. Most sites selected the advanced, managed services platform (MSP) solution, in part, for its ease of setup and use, worldwide access over the Internet, pay-as-you-use pricing and advanced teleradiology capabilities.

"More and more radiology practices are realizing that transitioning to a digital environment need not be a costly and time consuming project implemented over months or years," said Willie Tillery, CEO of Neurostar. "Because the VRN relies on the Internet and Neurostar's existing comprehensive IT infrastructure, converting to digital can be as simple as plugging in a connection to the VRN. A facility can sign up through our website and be up and running in hours. Neurostar's affordable fee-per-study pricing eliminates virtually all capital expenses, and as a practice grows, new sites can be added quickly and easily.

Sites that implemented Neurostar's VRN from January to June 2007 include 19 sites in Alabama, 17 sites in Georgia, 11 sites in West Virginia, eight sites in Missouri, four sites in Arizona, four sites in California, and 42 sites in 20 more states.

Commenting on their choice of the VRN, purchasers pointed out a range of specific reasons for selecting the Neurostar VRN.

Palmaris Imaging, LLC, a busy, 19-radiologist group in (St. Louis, MI), was looking for a flexible, cost-effective digital solution that could send images over the Internet for reading by remote teleradiologists, while supporting its physicians based in hospitals in MO and VA. Neurostar was an excellent fit," explains Greg Snead, CPA, MBA, Vice President and COO for Palmaris. "With our unique business model, we have to move large numbers of images from multiple facilities to our staff teleradiologists who are based in the Midwest and on the West Coast. Prior to signing on for Neurostar's turnkey digital service, the complexities and time involved in maintaining our IT communication infrastructure were enormous and growing rapidly."

"We all work at different client imaging sites as well as at home depending on the day of the week," said Anson Cone, MD, a partner in Community Radiology Associates, a three-physician virtual radiology group reading for ten imaging sites. The practice wanted a solution that could send images where needed quickly and efficiently. "We don't have an IT staff," explains Cone. "And we wanted to minimize our investment in supporting hardware. We looked at a number of PACS vendors and Neurostar was by far the best fit." Cone also points out that the practice wanted a turnkey solution that could be funded through its operating budget.

"Clinicians felt the Neurostar solution was as good or better than solutions from some of the large, far more costly vendors. Additionally, Neurostar demonstrated a willingness to work with us to customize the VRN for seamless information flow throughout our facility," said Phyllis Schuck, chief information officer for the Pinehurst Surgical Center, a 36-physician practice in Pinehurst, NC.
