Alaska’s Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital picks PACS and RIS from Novarad
| Company News - Novarad Corporation |
Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital, a level IV trauma center located in Sitka, Alaska, recently selected Novarad’s NovaRIS and NovaPACS technologies. The hospital is part of the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC), a non-profit tribal health consortium of 18 Native communities that serves the health interests of the Tlingit, Haida, Tsimshian, and other Native people of Southeast Alaska.
In addition to Sitka, Novarad has PACS and RIS installations in Anchorage, Alaska, and more than 350 installations of its technologies worldwide.
Factors behind the selection included the availability of turnkey systems with full scalability and 24x7 remote support.
Scalability was key to help the hospital meet the increasing need and fulfill its mission of providing the highest quality health services in partnership with Native people. While the emphasis at the hospital is family medicine, the hospital has physicians that specialize in radiology.
The availability of anytime, remote support was also key. Alaska’s rugged terrain and isolated location can present a challenge for receiving service and support. While Novarad’s systems have a 99.99 per cent uptime guarantee, if a situation arises where service is needed, Novarad’s remote support capabilities enable immediate response, eliminating the scheduling and travel delays associated with onsite support offerings.
“We look forward to working together with Mt. Edgecumbe to incorporate these new technologies into its facility,” said Paul Shumway, Novarad vice president. “Faster result turnaround and enhanced management of patient records will help the hospital in providing a continued level of superior service and care to the community it serves.”
