Novarad Corporation releases NovaPACS 6.6 with embedded MIP (maximum intensity projection) and MPR (multiplanar reconstruction) tools to build and view 3-D images directly from the PACS workstation.

Traditionally, post-processing reconstructions are not completed on the PACS, but at a proprietary workstation at or near the modality. The MIP and MPR tools embedded in NovaPACS eliminate the need for radiologists to do post-processing reconstructions from the modalities and for technologists to redo reconstructions specified by the radiologists. Radiologists can now quickly reconstruct any study they want in any format they want right from NovaPACS.

Novarad recognizes improving workflow is a big challenge so we’re continually upgrading our software to make radiology departments even more efficient,” said Paul Shumway, senior vice president at Novarad Corporation. “These new features save time and money since reconstruction time for both techs and radiologists is significantly reduced.”

Additionally, BIOPOD, a HIPAA-compliant fingerprint touch login solution is now available for NovaPACS and its companion radiology information system, NovaRIS.

The secure touch login eliminates the need for passwords and frees IT department personnel from managing password requests and changes, freeing them to work on other IT tasks.
