In an advance that can potentially assist cancer diagnosis, a new optical technique provides high-resolution, three-dimensional images of blood vessels by taking advantage of the natural multiple-photon-absorbing properties of hemoglobin.

The risk of developing cancer depends on the subtle interplay of genetics, personal choice and the environment, according to several long-term studies presented today at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research.
