eGate Customers are turning to Orion Health Rhapsody Integration Engine to help them quickly, accurately and cost-effectively migrate their existing interfaces

Hospitals and health systems using Sun Microsystems' sunsetting eGate are turning to Orion Health Rhapsody Integration Engine to help them quickly, accurately and cost-effectively migrate their existing interfaces, while also adopting a solution that provides greater flexibility, stability, and a more robust system.

Orion Health made available a case study recounting best practices from Iowa Health System who when informed that their current version of eGate was near retirement and that upgrading to the latest version would require a complete rewrite of their interfaces, decided to look at other options. Doug Heisler, Senior Interface Specialist at Iowa Health System, explains, "We wanted a solution that offered us more than eGate was offering. We wanted more power, flexibility and capabilities."

"Our move to Rhapsody was quick and painless. Rhapsody's intuitve GUI with the drag-and-drop feature enabled us to migrate from our old engine virtually seamlessly, minimizing customer disruptions. As a result we have a flexible solution enabling us to better support our customers."

Paul Viskovich, Orion Health President of North America and EMEA Operations, states, "eGate users are facing quite a challenge now that their current interface solution is scheduled to be retired. Upgrading to the latest version of Sun’s engine requires rewriting of interfaces which puts tremendous pressure on IT staffing and budget."

"Iowa Health System has found that migration to Rhapsody is saving them time and money as they were able to avoid rewriting interfaces and improving their productivity with the additional capabilities included in Rhapsody. The product is also highly intuitive and Iowa was able to reduce new team member training time by up to 60 percent."

Orion Health solutions use standards-based technology to integrate data within a facility and external partners without incurring costly rip and replace approaches. Currently the company helps facilities and healthcare communities that connect 35 million patients with tens of thousands of active users.
