Orion Health signed a distribution deal with a Chinese reseller

Orion Health Ltd, a global leader in healthcare IT, has signed a distribution deal with a Chinese reseller that will see its integration engine software being sold for the first time in China through its new partner’s extensive sales network.

Under the deal, Katsu World will distribute Orion Health Rhapsody through its extensive range of resellers. Rhapsody enables healthcare organisations to seamlessly transfer information both internally and externally, without the need to replace existing information systems.

Mr Ma Yuanlong, General Manager for Katsu World said China is undergoing a revolutionary change in health care with the new National Healthcare Reform Policy and 2010 is a key turning point for the development of China HealthCare Regional solution. Katsu World have realised the huge potential for the messaging and the regional solutions for healthcare development in China, and hope to use this opportunity to expand the company’s business.

Charles Scatchard, President of International for Orion Health, said as China embarked on the health reform journey, it was likely to seek the most direct route to achieving its goals by researching and learning from other countries and then selecting the best products from around the globe.

“Rhapsody is globally recognised as a proven, robust product for the healthcare IT sector and we are honoured to be associated with Katsu.

The contract will be officially signed at the 2010 HIMSS AsiaPac Exposition in Beijing May 26-28, where Orion Health will also be demonstrating its world class Rhapsody Integration Engine and EHR ( electronic health record ) software (booth #516).

Mr Scatchard said Orion Health’s solutions and applications improved patient care and clinical decision making by providing integrated health data in a single, unified view, reducing errors and omissions by streamlining information transfer.

“Orion Health has an enviable reputation globally for its electronic healthcare solutions and this move into China in association with Katsu endorses this,” said Mr Scatchard.

Like the rest of the world, China is faced with an increase in electronic health systems, and private and public hospitals and health organisations are looking to optimise the way they share, move and use clinical data to improve all aspects of their business and the welfare of their patient’s health.

Mr Scatchard said Orion Health technology enabled customers to create healthcare information exchanges leveraging electronic clinical data and maximising existing partnerships to improve access and delivery of healthcare services.
