New Orion Health Executives to Manage and Nurture High-Growth Operations

Hospitals and hospital systems continue to turn to Orion Health to help them integrate electronic patient data from disparate systems quickly, accurately and cost-effectively. The company announces two executive appointments that aim to manage this high-growth period and improve process efficiency that will promote further growth in company’s worldwide product sales.

Dan Cooper, Vice President PSG North America

Dan Cooper is appointed as Vice President Professional Services Group (PSG) for North America. Mr. Viskovich commented, “Dan Cooper has worked closely with the Orion Health North America team for several years. It is a real pleasure to finally have him properly in the family.”

Mr. Cooper will be leading Orion Health PSG operations in the US and Canada at a critical time in the company’s business. Vigorous demand in 2009 created a strong pipeline of health information data exchange projects that are supported by the company’s North America sales teams. Mr. Cooper will be responsible for PSG projects and will work with Orion Health’s largest and most discerning customers.

Mr. Viskovich continues, “Dan is an accomplished IT operations and technical leader with over 25 years of experience running and managing professional services organizations. Highly skilled in operations, he has been involved in all phases of planning, acquisitions, sales, development, management, strategy and implementation. Dan is recognized as an expert in healthcare IT application solutions. He has led the development of disease management, electronic health record, electronic information exchange, and claims management solutions.”

Mr. Cooper, a member of the Health Record Banking Alliance, frequently lectures PhD candidates in healthcare IT as an instructor at the Denver University health sciences program. He is also on the board of several advisory groups, twice managed all the IT for the Soccer World Cup, and holds an advanced degree in Information and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Irvine.

Jay Khan, Vice President Operations and Process Innovation

Jay Khan is appointed Vice President Operations and Process Innovation. Mr. Khan’s expertise is services and client-centric process re-design, a talent made evident at his previous employer, healthcare IT solutions provider, Allscripts. As Senior Vice President of Services, Mr. Khan led a company wide initiative that reduced Enterprise Electronic Health Record implementation duration from an average of 18 months to 3 months.

Mr. Viskovich commented, “We are delighted to announce the appointment of an outstanding individual to a new, key role in our expanding organization. Jay is a multi-skilled individual, and we intend to make the most of his many talents.”

Mr. Khan will lead the Rhapsody Services team and newly formed application management teams as well as work with the North America product business management team. Mr. Khan will also lead Orion Health’s global process innovation effort, reporting to CEO and Chief Process Innovation Officer, Ian McCrae.

“This role is vitally important to the growth of Orion Health as the company seeks to scale its activities worldwide,” Mr. Viskovich concludes.

Mr. Khan has 17 years of experience in services and development. He spent most of his time leading service businesses in healthcare IT, diagnostic imaging, and life sciences, including 15 years at General Electric Company. In his previous work, his chief role was to accelerate clients’ effective use of solutions for small to large multi-specialty medical practices. He is a certified LEAN Six Sigma Master Black Belt and has expertise in improving client-centric processes and growing services businesses.
