Orion Health Rhapsody Sees Customer Adoption

Company News - Orion Health

Healthcare providers turning to the Orion Health Rhapsody Integration Engine for a proven, off-the-shelf, standards-based solution to conserve technical resources.

Hospitals and hospital systems turned to Orion Health in record numbers in 2009 to help them quickly, accurately and cost-effectively integrate electronic patient data from disparate systems. December 2009 was a record month for Rhapsody sales for the company, and this momentum looks set to continue into 2010. As healthcare providers implement new electronic medical record ( EMR ) solutions and prepare to participate in health information exchange s, they are increasingly turning to the Orion Health Rhapsody Integration Engine for a proven, off-the-shelf, standards-based solution to conserve technical resources.

Orion Health technology is allowing these customers to create healthcare information exchanges that leverage electronic clinical data and maximize existing partnerships to improve access and delivery of healthcare services. Viskovich notes that customers report saving hundreds of man-hours per year by graphically mapping interfaces, automating the data exchange and reporting process, and easing troubleshooting with Rhapsody.

Atrius Health, Inc. is a non-profit alliance of five leading medical groups including Harvard Vanguard Medical Associations, working together to create a new and proactive approach to patients’ health, coordinated by the primary care doctor and medical team.

Alan Zeigler, IT Manager for EDI and Interfaces, at Atrius Health says “We went through extensive due diligence and a request for information process including demos and training to find the right integration engine. Ultimately we chose Rhapsody because the technology was powerful, user friendly and versatile. No other vendor out there had the capability to transmit messages using both HL7 and/or ANSI X12.  These key performance measures along with the company’s commitment to customer service and exclusive focus on healthcare made Rhapsody a clear choice.”

Access Community Health Network (ACCESS) is the nation's largest community health center organization. Chicago’s largest primary care provider to the underserved, ACCESS operates more than 50 community health center locations throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, providing more than 750,000 primary care visits to 215,000 individuals.

Rhapsody was not only able to solve our needs for integrating health care data in a fast, secure and proven product, it achieved these results in a financially prudent manner. When working with a patient base from diverse economic backgrounds, while quality is the main objective, cost effectiveness and performance are also key. Rhapsody was the right fit,” said Barbara Wallace, Information Services Development Services Manager, Access Community Health Network.

Concord Hospital, a regional medical center, and one of the busiest acute care hospitals in the State of New Hampshire, has selected the Orion Health Rhapsody Integration Engine to supplement and eventually replace their current solution, Sun Microsystems eGate. Rhapsody will serve as the hospital’s new and advanced platform to migrate, manage, and streamline message exchange for their new Health Information System (HIS).

Chris Baker, Director of Application Development at Concord Hospital, states, “We were looking for an innovative technology solution to not only replace the eGate engine, but most importantly one that would work with our short-term goal of implementing a new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) while serving as an application development tool to provide a flexible and scalable platform to meet our needs down the road.”

Viskovich points to a final trend pushing Rhapsody sales up, “The public health sector is very hot right now and rapidly adopting the newly introduced Rhapsody Connect solution. Rhapsody’s leadership in the healthcare integration engine market continues to be validated through our customers and third-party developer relationships.”

Rhapsody Connect for Public Health has already been deployed in more than 35 states across the United States which are using Orion Health integration technology to improve nation-wide data collection and tracking of reportable diseases. It is one of the most widely adopted integration platforms used by public health departments.

Orion Health solutions use standards-based technology to integrate data within a facility and external partners without incurring costly rip and replace approaches. Currently the company helps facilities and healthcare communities that connect 35 million patients with tens of thousands of active users.

Orion Health will be exhibiting at the annual HIMSS 2010 conference in Atlanta, Georgia March 1– 4 2010, booth 1911.
