IDS Launches New Referring Physician Portal Featuring DICOM Image Viewer

Integrated Document Solutions (IDS) released its enhanced Referring Physician Portal featuring the IDS Image Viewer, a web-based DICOM Image Viewer.
Integrated Document Solutions (IDS), a pioneer in delivering healthcare information and applications via cloud computing, released its enhanced Referring Physician Portal featuring the IDS Image Viewer, a web-based DICOM Image Viewer that lets doctors immediately access their patients’ diagnostic images and final reports using any browser.
The IDS Image Viewer, which works with any PACS Solution , eliminates the need for radiologists and imaging centers to install and maintain mini-PACS and VPNs at referring physicians’ offices. The 100% web-based Microsoft Silverlight-powered solution is able to pre-cache complex images, providing users a streaming experience using only a DSL connection.
“We believe that the IDS Image Viewer is a game-changer in that it provides radiologists and imaging centers a real competitive differentiator,” said CEO Yaniv Dagan. “This product eliminates the expensive practice of installing mini-PACS workstations and lets you give referring physicians a simple and elegant web-based solution for sharing final results and rich images,” he added.
“Our referring physicians have been impressed and our marketing reps have been happy to have this key business accelerator at hand,” said Mike Christie, CIO of Health Diagnostics, an imaging group with over 20 facilities across the United States. “It has dramatically improved and simplified the installation process at the physician offices, and has taken out all of the pain of getting the images to the client. We needed to be competitive because other imaging companies are offering enhanced portals. This is one of the best portals we have seen because it combines high functionality, simple installation and does not tie us to an underlying imaging platform.”
Highlights of the IDS Image Viewer include:
- Image Pre-Caching: System can automatically cache images prior to a doctor’s login, without affecting PACS performance, so that every series is available when the doctor opens their patients’ online charts.
- Stacking and Sorting Images: Providers can simultaneously view images from multiple series and studies, and can synchronize the scrolling between images using reference lines to automatically show equivalent positioning in relation to each series.
- Annotations: Physicians can add text annotations, ruler lines, and angle measurements to any image and can save them for later reference.
- Window Leveling: Image contrast can be converted completely and Window Leveling allows control of brightness and density.
- Cross-Platform Availability: The IDS Referring Physician Portal is accessible using a PC or Apple computer, iPad, iPhone, Android or Windows Mobile smartphone devices. Users can also retrieve information using their preferred web browser.
The company will unveil the IDS Referring Physician Portal with the new Image Viewer at the RSNA-2010 convention in Chicago at booth 8408 in the North Hall.
