NDS Surgical Imaging Introduces Breakthrough Technologies to Deliver PACS Images

NDS Surgical Imaging announced advanced visualization tools to view diagnostic images from Radiology NDS Surgical Imaging (NDSsi), a leading provider of medical visualization solutions for modern surgery suites, announced new advanced visualization tools that allow clinicians and surgeons in an operating room (OR) to view diagnostic images from Radiology. This innovation, Radiology Imaging for the Surgical Environment or RISE(TM), uses the Company's Visualization and Informatics technologies to provide a complete solution that enables real-time, interactive consultation for medical professionals in the OR. NDSsi will be demonstrating RISE(TM) at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Conference, NDSsi Booth #5047, at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas, Nev., from February 25 - 27, 2009.

Digital Orthopaedic templating on X-Ray images are traditionally completed outside the OR. Using RISE(TM), these images can be transferred easily to a Boom or Cart mounted Surgical Display in the OR. Additionally, these high-resolution grayscale images can be accessed instantaneously and reviewed side-by-side a live HD feed from an orthopedic video camera, raising clinical confidence for Orthopaedic procedures and beyond.

"During a live case, surgeons and clinical teams may require previously completed, templated orthopaedic images in the OR. These images are typically delivered via a dedicated PACS workstation or on printed X-ray film on a lightbox," said Dhiraj Carumbaya, Vice President of Marketing at NDSsi. "RISE(TM) innovation from NDSsi breaks traditional boundaries and allows transfer of high-resolution digital images from Radiology reading straight to surgical displays in the OR, providing significant procedural efficacies."
RISE(TM), a part of Medical Visualization Informatics (MVI)(TM) solutions from NDSsi, is a technology solution based on the company's vision of driving procedural efficacy by connecting the realms of PACS imaging, surgical video and medical informatics.
