Peter R. Eby, MD, an assistant professor of radiology in the section of breast imaging at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle has been named the 2007 ARRS/Philips Medical Systems Scholar. The award was presented during a ceremony at the ARRS Annual Meeting in Orlando in May.
Dr. Eby’s interest is in breast imaging and image-guided therapy for breast cancer. He plans to use the scholarship to complete a program of graduate coursework in bioengineering and to develop a focused research proposal on image-guided tumor ablation.
“I want to thank the ARRS and Philips Medical Systems for such a high honor. The support from this program will allow me to acquire valuable knowledge and skills in laboratory research and technology development through graduate coursework. This knowledge is critical to my current efforts in bringing radiology and bioengineering together to create novel image-guided interventions and therapies for breast cancer,” said Dr. Eby.
Dr. Eby received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Washington in Seattle in 2004. He has contributed to numerous manuscripts and abstracts and has served as a manuscript reviewer for the American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR) since 2004. Dr. Eby has also received numerous honors and awards including the School of Medicine Award of Distinction from Vanderbilt University.
The American Roentgen Ray Society Scholarship is intended to support study in a field selected by the scholar that will enable the scholar to attain his or her professional career goal and prepare them for positions of leadership in academic radiology. It is funded by a grant from The Roentgen Fund®. The Roentgen Fund® gratefully acknowledges Philips Medical Systems support for its scholarship program.
