University of Miami's Dr. Hung Wen Lin is awarded two-year research grant to advance resuscitation research.

Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) announced that Dr. Hung Wen Lin, Ph.D., research fellow at the Cerebral Vascular Disease Research Center, Department of Neurology , University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has been selected as the recipient of the fourth annual American Heart Association-Philips Resuscitation Fellowship Award.

The $100,000 grant, which is funded over a two-year period by Philips, is intended to encourage young investigators in the early stages of their careers to pursue basic and clinical research related to resuscitation.  The American Heart Association-Philips Resuscitation Fellowship Award will enable Dr. Lin to continue his research on the effects of cardiac arrest on brain circulation.  It's anticipated that Dr. Lin's research will contribute to identifying a standard therapy to preserve brain function following cardiac arrest.

Dr. Lin will be presented with the Fellowship Award on November 13, 2010, at the Resuscitation Science Symposium (ReSS) meeting, which is held each year in conjunction with the AHA's Scientific Sessions.  This year's meeting will take place in Chicago, Illinois, at the McCormick Place Convention Center.
