The St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City unveiled on Thursday its latest acquisition, a Philips Brilliance 256-slice CT scanner, the world’s most advanced CT scanner for cardiac patients.

The 256-slice CT scanner, considered the gold standard in CT imaging technology, was developed by the Royal Philips Electronics company of the Netherlands. It has an imaging technique that provides detailed three-dimensional images and works faster than previous CT scans, thus reducing a patient’s exposure to radiation.

“The new machine represents a significant upgrade to the diagnostic facilities at St. Luke’s, which is already the best-equipped hospital in the country,” said St. Luke’s president and CEO Jose F. G. Ledesma who led the unveiling with Robert F. Kuan, St. Luke’s chair, and Gerard Kleisterlee, Royal Philips worldwide president and CEO.
