RIS/PACS solutions provider, RADinfo SYSTEMS, has filed for a new patent covering an aspect of the company's DICOMmail software that enables sending medical images through email.

Dr. Chen-Tai Ma, CEO & President of RADinfo SYSTEMS, stated, "This technology will be a new innovation for healthcare providers to transmit medical images via an existing email system. Products based on this technology truly extend the medical imaging infrastructure into the far-reaching Internet environment. Especially, they address the need of physicians seeking outside consultation for interpretation of DICOM images. The patent application is only the first in a long line of future achievements that we plan to provide to our customers and to the market place."

"We plan to introduce products based on this technology to vary specific markets. The new products will enhance the fast-growing medical imaging market and become important tools that a medical imaging professional will use on a daily basis. The healthcare information technology market will be at an annual growth rate of 12.5 per cent through the year 2012 and we are working to supply distinctive and innovative solutions that meet this need," said Dr. Ma.
