Twenty-two medical centers spanning rural Kansas have transformed their environments from paper and film to digital images and computer-based scheduling with PACS and RIS technologies from NovaRad. Brown's Medical Imaging, a NovaRad distributor, was instrumental in facilitating the contracts.

NovaRad was selected by the Kansas facilities because it offered comprehensive systems at an affordable price including 24 x 7 IT support, freeing the facilities from having to maintain in-house IT. For those facilities that currently have in-house IT, the remote support will enable IT teams to refocus their time managing other applications for the organization rather than maintaining the radiology systems.

Pricing for NovaPACS is based on a subscription model. In contrast to the traditional capital purchase model that requires a significant outlay, NovaRad's subscription model uses the department's annual image load to set pricing. Everything is included-software and hardware refreshes, training, integration services and support.  Since NovaPACS and NovaRIS nearly eliminate the need for film and paper files, administrative costs are significantly decreased.

"NovaRad’s RIS and PACS systems are designed to meet the reading and operational demands of facilities of all sizes," said Greg Law, NovaRad's vice president of sales. "These technology installations are helping these smaller scale, rural facilities to continue to provide the high quality of radiology care, equivalent to the hospitals, imaging centers and clinics in the largest markets, that their communities expect."
