MammoBase, LLC, makers of the popular MB1000 and MB3000 Mammography Information Systems, introduced MammoProfile at this year's RSNA.

This kiosk-based product allows mammography patients to enter their own history data into MammoBase, radiology information systems or hospital information systems.

After entering data via an easy-to-use touchscreen, patients can then view informational custom or internet videos about mammography and women's healthcare.

Essential features of MammoProfile:

  • While in the waiting room, the patient may sit in front of a kiosk or workstation where she can enter her own medical history. She has access only to her own record. She may not view or change data for another patient.
  • Data entry is "wizard style" -- with simple, step-by-step questions to which the patient responds.
  • The MammoProfile workstation is linked across the network to the regular MammoBase database or RIS/HIS. The individual's responses feed into the MammoBase patient-history area, and are instantly accessible there...as completely as if the mammo tech or other staff had been entering the patient's history into MammoBase.
  • Techs can then print out optional history sheets with patient demographics and history as well as breast diagrams and other tools.
  • After the patient has finished responding to the "medical history wizard," she can put on headphones and view multi-media resources about breast cancer until she is called in for her exam.
Among topics she can access:
  • Breast self-exam.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
  • Risk factors and warning signs.
