Resonance Technology Company debuts at RSNA 2011 an array of enhancements to its advanced CinemaVision MRI video entertainment system and functional MRI (fMRI) product line.

Debuting at RSNA is support for today’s popular iPod and other portable music devices. Now, patients can bring in their favorite songs on any portable digital device, plug it into the CinemaVision docking station and escape into a world of personalized, relaxing entertainment during an MRI scan.

Also new at RSNA is enhanced resolution for the company’s video goggles, which now deliver visuals inside the MRI environment with breathtaking 1280 x 1024 resolution. The goggles feature a 1.3 million pixel resolution in a half-inch diagonal display and deliver enhanced contrast and brightness.  They are compatible with an MRI of up to 9.4T magnet strength.

The goggles support both the patient comfort and fMRI systems, boast a sleek, low profile and are crafted of special of ultra-pliable material to accommodate a full range of head coils.  The headset blocks gradient noise with the highest level of noise cancellation in the industry. 

This year, the redesigned headset also features a superior quality digital microphone with active-noise cancellation and full-frequency range audio to enable the patient to communicate easily with the technologist.“Whether for patient entertainment or complex fMRI research, our new technology creates detailed, realistic 3D imagery almost as if the patient were there,” says Resonance Technology CEO and founder Mohktar Ziarati.  “Resonance is leading the industry in the quality of its display.”

At RSNA 2011, Resonance Technology also enhances its TFT (thin film transistor) video panel/reflective entertainment viewing system that supports ultra-comfortable patient positioning for a full range of imaging exams. The system combines this ultra-high picture quality display with a mirrored audio/video headset for delivering all-digital patient entertainment.  The enhanced LCD display now brings visual imagery to life in 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution on a dual DVI 30”digital display that can be positioned on either the front or back of the magnet bore.  The new system delivers industry-leading high definition (HD) video resolution and digital stereo sound from a wide range of digital media and live television. 

Ziarati explains, “The new active TFT panel system is extremely comfortable for the patient and reliable in the MRI suite.  The new mirrored headset simplifies patient set up and enhances the entertainment system’s reliability and flexibility by eliminating all wired headset connections. The new system also can mirror the MRI console display.  If the technologist or radiologist wants to see the MRI patient images in the imaging suite itself, the panel system makes this simple.”

Also new at RSNA for the CinemaVision is a digital MRI-compatible camera system that is mounted directly on the front or rear of the MRI bore and enables the technologist to watch the patient during the scan.

Also this year, Resonance Technology Company further improves funcLAB, its turn-key fMRI solution.  funcLAB brings together brain activation capabilities including sensory-motor, visual, auditory, language, and memory tasks and automated fMRI processing together in a simple to operate package. This turn-key fMRI solution is delivered in a small form-factor PC to fit even the tightest MR work space, yet sports powerful multi-core and advanced GPU graphics performance to meet complex 3D presentations. The latest edition provides NIH supported AFNI (http://afni.nimh.nih.gov/afni) fMRI analytics and brain activation tasks recommended by the American Society of Functional Neuroradiology (ASFNR).
