ASRT Essential Education Snippets, now available through the iTunes Store Web site, offer a free 15- to 20-minute section of podcasts that are available for purchase at the ASRT Learning Center.
The American Society of Radiologic Technologists now has a presence in front of the worldwide audience of the 500 million iTunes Store users. ASRT Essential Education Snippets, now available through the iTunes Store Web site, give potential members and customers a free 15- to 20-minute section of podcasts that are available for purchase at the ASRT Learning Center for continuing education credit.
"We are very excited about this,” said ASRT's Director of Professional Development, Ellen Lipman, M.S., R.T.(R)(MR), CAE. "While other medical associations have used podcasts as an advertising vehicle, we're one of the first to offer this as a continuing education activity. The ability to download podcasts to desktop computers, laptop computers, iPods or other MP3 players provides the customer with immediate access to CE courses. The viewer then has the flexibility to watch the podcast whenever it's convenient for them. Moreover, for those with portable devices, the podcasts can also be viewed wherever they want, whether it's at home, commuting to or from work or school, or even on a trip.
So far, three podcasts, worth one CE credit each, are available through ASRT's Online Learning Center. They are:
- Ultrasound Physics 101.
- Bone Densitometry.
- Pharmacology Basics.
Twelve courses are currently being developed and are expected to be completed within the next year.
To access the podcast snippets, visit www.itunes.com to download the iTunes software. Once you access iTunes, enter the iTunes Store and perform a search using keywords in the RT profession such as 'radiologic,' 'radiologic technologists,' 'medical imaging' and 'radiation therapy.'
