St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, has ordered the newly launched ACUSON X300 Premium Edition (PE) ultrasound system from Siemens. The new unit will be delivered shortly and will be used for paediatric imaging in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The hospital has a long tradition of excellence in caring for children and provides a comprehensive service for the local population and children further afield. The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit is a ten-bed tertiary unit incorporating an eight bed intensive care unit and a two bed high dependency unit. The facility cares for children with life threatening conditions including meningococcal septicaemia, pneumonia, trauma, neurological problems and those who have undergone surgery.
The X300 PE ultrasound system will deliver excellent image quality for a confident diagnosis in a wide range of applications such as cardiology, abdominal and vascular imaging. Using Hanafy Lens Transducer with 'SynAps' technology, the system can image as deeply as 30cm delivering greater diagnostic confidence.
Declan Dunphy, Manager of Products Performance at Siemens Healthcare states, "The X300 PE ultrasound system will deliver excellent imaging performance to St Mary's Hospital to assist with the monitoring and treatment of young patients."
The X300 PE is a highly compact and manoeuvrable system offering a rapid 12 second reboot option for instant access when diagnostic capabilities are required quickly. It has also been ergonomically designed and features an intuitive and height adjustable control panel for multiple users.
