First Radiation Oncology Center with Elekta VMAT

Radiology News - Radiology

Partners for Urology Health announce the installation of Ohio's first and only radiation oncology center with Elekta Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT).

Partners for Urology Health, a joint venture between Humility of Mary Health Partners (HMHP), NEO Urology Associates Inc., and Advanced Urology Inc., is proud to announce the installation of Ohio's first and only radiation oncology center with Elekta Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), the worlds most advanced radiation therapy technology.

Elekta VMAT is a new treatment option for cancer patients and promises to significantly improve patients experience and the quality of care.

"This new technology reduces the time required for radiotherapy sessions to five minutes or less, while giving us the ability to treat targets more aggressively than ever before," explains Dr. Rashad El-Dabh, radiation oncologist. "It's an innovative way to deliver radiation treatments and is a significant improvement to existing radiation therapy techniques."

Elekta VMAT precisely conforms the radiation to a tumor's shape. The radiation is delivered only to the intended area, allowing clinical staff to spare more surrounding healthy tissue and better avoid nearby critical anatomy. To further ensure accuracy, 3D imaging at ultra-low doses allows staff to quickly and safely verify tumor position prior to treatment. Sophisticated monitoring tools further enhance precision by monitoring treatment in real-time to ensure that the dose is delivered as precisely as the radiation oncologist prescribes it.
